Jeremy Huggett

Jeremy Huggett

Saxes, flute, keyboards and vocals.

Jeremy started his musical career at the age of four by learning the piano - he added the flute at the age of six and the saxes at twenty.

1989 saw Jeremy nominated by musicians from the famous "Old Duke" in Bristol for a place at Johnny Dankworth's Summer School (Wavendon).
In May 1992 he was invited to guest in concert at the Colston Hall in Bristol with the US 76th Army Band.

1993 saw him winning the award for Best Reed Player in the UK. Since then, Jeremy's gone from strength to strength, playing with famous names all over the country including Acker Bilk, Digby Fairweather, Danny Moss, Pete Allen, Tommy Burton, Beryl Brydon, Enrico Tomasso, Jim Fryer and the list goes on.

In June 1996 Jeremy was invited to play at the world famous Mulberry's 25th birthday celebration where he took part in the birthday show with a band formed especially for the occasion, which consisted of seven other professional musicians, all of whom were selected from the London professional circuit. The band played for celebrities such as Sir Bob Geldof in a show hosted by Anne Robinson from "Watchdog", and featuring Boycie from "Only Fools and Horses".

During his musical career, Jeremy has worked with a number of top UK bands including The Beachcombers, Six Piece Suite and Teign Valley Jazzmen. He has also led a number of his own bands working at venues across the country. Jeremy has also appeared at many of the major jazz festivals both in the UK and abroad.

Jeremy was recently commissioned by an international music magazine to record a CD of sample sax sounds for distribution worldwide.

Since December 2000, Jeremy has been guesting with legendary rock group, Hawkwind, using the name Jez Huggett, appearing at prestigious venues including London Astoria and Royal Festival Hall, London. Jez is featured playing saxes and flute on Hawkwind's latest studio recording "Take Me To Your Leader", which went into the UK Album charts on release.

In 2006 Jeremy played at the Wedding of actress Hannah Waterman (Laura Beale in "Eastenders") and actor Ricky Groves (Gary Hobbs in "Eastenders").

With "Hello Magazine" having exclusive rights to photos, the guest list included top names of stage and screen including: Dennis Waterman, Patricia Maynard, June Brown (Dot Cotton), Letitia Dean (Sharon Watts), Todd Carty (Mark Fowler), Shane Richie (Alfie Moon), John Baredon (Jim Branning), Kacey Ainsworth (Little Mo Slater) and Cliff Parisi (Minty).

Steve Dow

Guitar

Originally from London, Steve moved to Devon in 2001 and has since worked with a variety of jazz outfits across the South West.

Being an extremely talented musician, Steve is equally at home playing “rhythm guitar” ensemble backing or inventive solos, in a wide range of musical styles.

As well as working with ‘Band Of Gold’, he is the guitarist with ‘Ellingtonia’, a nine-piece band dedicated to playing the music of the jazz legend Duke Ellington.

When he isn’t performing, Steve teaches guitar and has composed music for local theatre productions.

Steve is also an accomplished blues guitarist, having featured on many recordings. He has recently recorded a CD of original lap-slide guitar compositions and will be performing solo at the 2008 Ashburton Blues Festival.

Tony Mann

Tony Mann

Double bass, bass guitar and tuba.

Tony is a very versatile and experienced musician who has worked extensively in the UK and abroad playing a variety of types of music. He has recently decided to concentrate on playing his main love - jazz.

Tony brings with him a wealth of talent and experience. As well as providing solid bass lines, his solos are outstanding.
During his musical career, Tony has worked with a number of top UK jazz bands on both double bass and tuba and has regularly appeared at Butlins Holiday Camps for summer seasons.

When not playing jazz, Tony can often be spotted playing trombone or tuba in his local brass band.

Brian Clarke

Drums

Brian is the young at heart member of the band and is regarded by both musicians and audiences as being one of the best drummers in the UK. Providing a mix of sympathetic backing with inventive solos, his talent and versatility are exceptional.

As well as working in a number of top jazz bands throughout the UK, Brian has also played a range of other types of music in his career.

In the 60's & 70's Brian played in rock and pop bands in both the UK and Europe.He joined the Don Franklen trio and worked extensively throughout the UK. Sometimes the trio would increase in size to a 10 or 12 piece band backing cabaret artistes at shows and holiday camps.

Brian later joined another group, The Three Clubs, playing 60's hits at clubs up and down the country. As well as working for Band of Gold, Brian currently works for MD Paul Brown in the Suzy/Paul Brown Trio.
